Every year, the Lacs de l'Eau d'Heure play host to the’Openlakes Belgium, a triathlon a major event attracting thousands of participants from Belgium and beyond. A triathlon accessible to all levels
The Openlakes is distinguished by its wide variety of events. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced athlete, there's a format to suit everyone: from the “My First Triathlon Experience” for those just starting out, to the Olympic and Half Distance events for the most experienced.
The distances range from short formats (a few hundred metres of swimming, followed by cycling and running) to more demanding events such as the Half Distance, which includes a 1.9km swim, over 90km of cycling and a 21km half-marathon.
The event also features races for kids and teens, as well as events accessible to people with disabilities, reinforcing its inclusive, family-friendly character.
A sporting and festive weekend
Usually held over two days in September, the Openlakes transforms the area around the lakes into a veritable sports village. With competitions, training sessions, entertainment and exhibition areas, the atmosphere is both dynamic and friendly.
Saturday is often dedicated to first events and discovery formats, while Sunday is used for Olympic distances and general public races.
An even more prestigious 2026 edition
The 2026 edition promises to be particularly important, as it will host the Belgian championship over the Half distance, attracting top-level athletes.
