This event pays tribute to the region's military and religious history, with companies of soldiers in period uniforms, a squadron of horsemen, and a parade to the rhythm of drums and fifes. Fans of local history and traditions come together to celebrate this living heritage.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>The history of the Marche Saint-Lambert<\/h2>\n<p>The Marche Saint-Lambert de Cerfontaine has its roots in the Napoleonic era. Cerfontaine was one of the villages in the Entre-Sambre-et-Meuse region incorporated into France between 1793 and 1815. The march was created to pay tribute to the local conscripts who fought in Napoleon's Grande Arm\u00e9e. Some of the survivors were awarded the Croix de Sainte-H\u00e9l\u00e8ne, which can be admired at the Mus\u00e9e de la Vie R\u00e9gionale in Cerfontaine.<\/p>\n<h2>Walk schedule<\/h2>\n<p>The Saint-Lambert Walk follows a specific programme every 15 August:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>10.00 am: Mass<\/li>\n<li>11.00: Departure of the procession<\/li>\n<li>12.30pm: The procession returns<\/li>\n<li>8.00 pm: Companies and squadrons return to work<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The participants, dressed as sappers, grenadiers, gendarmes, zouaves, voltigeurs and artillerymen, parade in uniforms reproduced with great concern for historical accuracy.
